Economic data

The annual budget includes the estimate of revenue and expenditure, both to undertake the running costs of the Roman Theater Museum, to serve as background operations.

In 2016 is part museum aimed at raising self - financing to 68% of their spending, and estimates for 2017 reach 75%, these own revenue comes from fees tickets, shop, space rental and income from book sales, friends and collaborators of the museum program, this revenue staff costs are covered and current expenditure included supplies; electricity, water, telephones, rent, cultural and educational promotion, research and maintenance.

For tourism has subscribed a cooperation agreement annual renewal with the Consortium Cartagena Port of Cultures that includes service to the public, shop, reception and guidelines, implemented in 2017 by the continued increase in visitors and tourism promotion of the monuments, all also covered with own revenues. Another part of the Museum expenses are covered by contributions from employers of the Foundation; the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the City of Cartagena and Cajamurcia Foundation, their contributions are intended to cover the costs of cleaning and security services, basic services for the smooth operation of the museum.

As for background operations, the Foundation has carried out comprehensive restoration project of the Roman Theater whose works were developed between 2003 and 2008, led by architect Rafael Moneo. To finance the project a collaboration agreement between the City of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, and Cajamurcia Foundation was signed. Annual contributions are intended to amortization of the loan signed with BMN.
