An amazing discovery
Uncovering the Roman Theatre of Cartagena has been one of the most amazing discoveries in the town in recent years. The first architectonical elements of the Theatre were found in October 1988.
The complete process
The long journey began in 1988 and has involved the restoration of the theatre building and porticus post scaenam. The inclusion of the town's layout is also under consideration, excavating the remains of the town plan so that it can be maintained and exhibited for cultural and educational purposes. Plans have also been made to construct a museum and research centre alongside, devoted to the excavation.
A management model
The complete project designed to restore the Roman Theatre had to be managed by an organised body capable of developing the entire process, for which a Foundation considered appropriate to govern the project's aims was created.
